The Russian State Duma claims that using donkeys on the front lines is “normal.”
Commenting on reports of Russian soldiers using animals in combat zones, State Duma Defense Committee member Viktor Sobolev justified the practice by citing logistical challenges in delivering ammunition and supplies.
“If some methods are used, including donkeys, horses, and so on, to deliver ammunition and other property to the front lines, then this is normal,” Sobolev stated.
He also referenced World War II, claiming that “part of the artillery was horse-drawn” and “reached Berlin.”
