Why the Church is silent?
In a time of trial for our Ukrainian Orthodox Church, this question is increasingly being asked by believers. Why are the bishops silent, why the Head of our Church is silent, why the Church keeps silence?
And I must admit that I myself have thought about this more than once.
And from my personal experience I realised that this is not true. The Church is not silent!
And it does not remain silent through the mouths : bishops, who publicly called believers to pray for me - unjustly imprisoned person, and this indicates a position and disagreement with religious persecution.
I am grateful to the Prelate of our Church - Metropolitan Onufrios, to the Metropolitan Agafangel and Metropolitan Yevlogy, and I would like to express my special gratitude to Archbishop Jonah and the courageous Metropolitan Theodosius. And to many bishops and priests, and all the faithful people of our Church who did not abandon me, an ordinary priest. I emphasise that I am neither a bishop nor a rector of a large Kyivan church, but simply an ordinary priest who has not been forgotten!
Someone would like to see us to be different, to read the calls for disobedience of the Holy Synod, or to see a clear position of the Metropolis, but instead there is silence, but it is PRAYERFUL SILENCE.
When the street shouted "Crucify!!!" and the procurator was interested in a rhetorical question about the truth, Christ was silent and prayed for those who condemned Him.
In his book Gary Chapman has written about the existence of five languages of love, but for us Christians, there is at least one more - and this is the highest language of Love for this World - and this language is the Language of Prayer.
