π°πΊπ¦π° βThe Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has run out of funds for combat payments to the Armed Forces for September,β stated Roksalana Pidlasa, Chair of the Budget Committee of the Verkhovna Rada.
"The Ministry of Defense is telling us they have no money to pay combat bonuses by September 20. But we will vote on amendments to the state budget before September 20. I can't specify the date of the Verkhovna Rada session right now, but we expect this vote around September 17-18."
At the same time, it is necessary to increase state budget expenditures by 500 billion UAHβthis is the gap in the budget for 2024! βοΈ
However, these changes to the state budget must also be signed by the Speaker and the President; only then can the Cabinet of Ministers allocate funds to the Ministry of Defense, which all takes time.
Pidlasa also mentioned that "the budget was planned so that Ukraine would have enough money each month to purchase military equipment and pay military personnel. However, in the first quarter of 2024, the U.S. did not provide military assistance to Ukraine, forcing the country to use its own funds as a substitute."
Thus, the MP from the Servant of the People party cleverly shifts the blame for the lack of funds onto the U.S.! βοΈ
This same tactic is employed by the authorities to accuse the U.S. of a shortage of weapons and air defense systems.
It makes one want to advise the deputies to address the glaring corruption in defense procurement, bribes in territorial recruitment centres, and chaos with "combat" funds directly within the unitsβperhaps then the resources might be found!
Moreover, the U.S. is also seeking ways to transfer the nearly unused $6 billion in aid to Ukraine before the program expires on September 30 π§©
