Newcastle legend, Alan Shearer, has said that Portugal could win the Euro 2024 if Cristiano Ronaldo accepts a reduced role for the team.

Ronaldo failed to score as Portugal defeated Czech Republic 2-1 in their first game.

"This is key to whether Portugal can go on and win the competition, because if he accepts he cannot play 90 minutes every game, that will go a long way to them winning this," Shearer told BBC One.

Confirmed: Nigeria-eligible midfielder becomes Everton's first summer signing

Through a statement on their official website, Everton have confirmed the signing of Super Eagles-eligible midfielder Tim Iroegbunam for an undisclosed fee.

The England U20 international ended his association with Aston Villa after putting pen to paper on a three-year contract with the Toffees, until June 30, 2027.

He becomes Everton's first signing of the summer transfer window and will begin training with his new teammates at the start of pre-season preparations early next month.
