In Russia, the shortage of gasoline that intensified after Ukrainian attacks on oil refineries has led to a sharp increase in demand for electric vehicles. From January to August 2026, over 83,000 electric and hybrid cars were sold in the country, compared to 43,000 during the same period last year.

However, the rapid rise in electric vehicles has not been matched by the development of necessary charging infrastructure, creating new challenges for car owners.


Ukraine’s Armed Forces Have Destroyed 456 Energy Facilities in Russia and Occupied Territories Over Three Months

Ukrainian military forces continue to systematically destroy energy infrastructure in territories currently occupied by Russia, as well as within Russian borders. This includes attacks on key electrical substations and energy nodes.

According to the Commander of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces, Robert Brovdi (known by the call sign "Madyar"), Ukrainian drone units have successfully targeted and hit a total of 456 such facilities from July 6 to October 3, 2026.
