Political newcomer and former Central Bank Governor Mark Carney becomes Canada's new Prime MinisterCarney, 59, won 86% of the Liberal vote, beating former Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland.
During the election campaign, Mark Carney announced his intention to introduce appropriate tariffs against the United States and develop a coordinated strategy to attract investment.
The new Prime Minister assured that his government will act decisively and unconventionally.
"This will not be just a continuation of the old course. We will face challenges that previously seemed unthinkable, and overcome them at a pace that until recently seemed unrealistic," said Mark Carney.
